Domestic Fear Today's society has normalized derogatory language and harmful behavior as if it were acceptable communication. Speaking aggressively to someone or putting your hands on them is not love, nor is it understanding. This kind of behavior can create fear, numbness, embarrassment, and self-doubt, causing long-term emotional damage. It can destroy trust and, in some cases, lead people to turn to drugs, alcohol, or even consider suicide. These behaviors often leave lasting emotional wounds that can grow into resentment and anger. Domestic violence is not always taken seriously for many reasons. Some victims remain in abusive relationships even after a report is made, while others never report the abuse at all. Fear, having no safe way to escape, believing no one will believe the victim, embarrassment, financial dependence, or concerns about children can all prevent someone from seeking help.
